Welcome from your President


To all the people viewing this page I would like to extend a hearty welcome.
We at the Queensland Sapphire Miners Association Inc (QSMA) are very excited to now have a website up and running. We expect to have some teething problems but these will be ironed out over the course of time, so please bare with us. To those of you who have not heard of the QSMA and would like know our role in the Gemfields, it is this. Our focus is to provide a central body to liase, co-ordinate and provide support for miners and other associated issues related to the Central Queensland Gemfields. The QSMA has a strong and dedicated committee who are miners themselves and a few are also gemcutters. The QSMA has 450 tenures on its books which equates to approximately 780 members with voting rights at the AGM wich is held at the end of August each year. The associatin foresees a bright future for Australian sapphires and for tourism on the gemfields, so when the humdrum of the city life gets to much,pack up your troubles in your bag, then come and have a holiday with a difference on the Central Queensland Gemfields.
